Each week, I will share three songs (or jams) I have been listening to recently that I think YOU should listen to. To check out all the previous weeks, visit thisisstormsound.com.
First up this week is Hang Up Your Hang Ups by Herbie Hancock from the acclaimed live album Flood. Herbie and his incredible band go deep into experimental funk zones only possible in the early 1970s across this nearly 20-minute performance.
Next we have Anyday by Tedeschi Trucks Band featuring Trey Anastasio from Layla Revisited. Performing the legendary Derek and the Dominoes album in full during this show, Derek Trucks and Trey go back and forth with their insane guitar playing as this extended version unfolds beautifully.
Finally, we have In Memory of Elizabeth Reed from Live at Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers. Another legendary live album with work by another legendary guitarist, this Liz Reed is a truly phenomenal example of Duane Allman’s incredible guitar skills.
